Welcome to the Texas Catholic Conference, the Official Public Policy Voice of the Catholic Bishops of Texas.

OUR MISSION
The primary purpose of the Conference is to encourage and foster cooperation and communication among the dioceses and the ministries of the Catholic Church of Texas.
A major function of the Conference is to be the public policy arm of the Conference's Board of Directors, the bishops of Texas, before the Texas legislature, the Texas delegation in Congress, and state agencies. The public policy issues addressed by the Conference include institutional concerns of the Catholic Church as well as issues related to Catholic moral and social teachings.

Our foundational principle to protect the life and dignity of all human persons calls us to work to end abortion, euthanasia, destruction of human embryos, cloning and assisted suicide.
Immigration Legislation
We recognize the contributions of immigrants to our society by supporting their access to healthcare and education for the benefit of all of the community.
Education Legislation
We recognize parents as the primary educators of their children through supporting parental choice in education.
Health and Human Services Legislation
We show God’s special concern for the poor and vulnerable by supporting foster care services and programs that make health care more affordable and accessible while providing incentives for morally appropriate health research.
Criminal Justice Reform Legislation
We support fiscal and moral reform in our state’s criminal justice system with an emphasis on ending the death penalty and supporting successful rehabilitation and reintegration for those re-entering society.
Additional Issues
The Texas Bishops' legislative agenda is not an exhaustive list of issues that the TCC tracks. This page lists additional legislation that we are tracking in addition to our 5 public policy priority areas.
