Brownsville bishop offers support for hurricane victims

Bishop Daniel Flores of Brownsville has issued the following statement:

We continue to pray for everyone affected by the hurricane and those who are at risk as the storms continue.

Our diocese will be taking a second collection at our local churches. Pastors may take up this collection as soon as this weekend. We will send donations to Catholic Charities in Corpus Christi.

We have to remember, though, that families affected by flood damage in the next few days in other parts of the state will be in need of relief. We will assess better how we can help as we get further information about the needs from the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops and Catholic Charities.
